10. Barcelona, Spain

Barcelona, Spain

It's the newest flip flop I have. My friend K. bought him for me in Spain a week ago. I felt in love with Barcelona when I've read 'Shadow of the wind' so I'm really glad that now I have two beautiful and different flip flops from this city. This one shows the most popular monument of Barcelona - Sagrada Familia Church designed by Antioni Gaudi. Although incomplete, church  is beautiful and breathtaking. But in the foreground of this souvenir we can admire The Columbus Monument. It was constructed in 1888 in honor to Columbus first voyage to the Americas. The monument serves as a reminder that Christopher Columbus reported to Queen Isabella I and King Ferdinand V in Barcelona after his first trip to the new continent.

9. Thessaloniki, Greece

Thessaloniki, Greece

I get this flip flop from my best friend K. She found him a year ago when she was in Greece. Thessaloniki is   the second-largest city in Greece located in the north part of this country. On this flip flop we can admire the principal monument of this city. It's the White Tower which is a symbol of Greek sovereignty over Macedonia. It became a notorious prison and scene of mass executions during the period of Ottoman rule but nowadays is a place of the Byzantine Museum.

8. Madeira, Portugal

Madeira, Portugal

The next flip flop from my best friend A. It's a souvenir from Madeira. It's a name of a Portuguese archipelago situated in the north Atlantic Ocean, called also Pearl the Atlantic. Madeira is also a name of one of island in this archipelago which is situated  at the top of a massive shield volcano that rises about 6 km from the floor of the Atlantic Ocean so the landscape there is really picturesque. I hope that I will go there one day to take pictures... and I get one more flip flop too.

7. Ortahisar, Turkey

Ortahisar, Turkey

This flip flop is a gift from my best friend M. I know that he was bought in Ortahisar in Turkey. He represents a specific landscape of Cappadocia (an ancient region of Anatolia) with the Fairy Chimneys (tall, thin spire of rock) which look like a huge mushrooms to me. Hot-air ballooning is very popular there so it is a reason why the baloon also appeared on this flip flop. It's the only flip flop I have which is decorated with the eye of the prophet although I have a few flip flops from Turkey.

6. Croatia

Croatia

This flip flop I get from a swap with my friend . I gave her a shoe from Turkey and she gave me this original flip flop from Croatia. It was a hard decision to me because shoe was also beautiful but love to flip flops was stronger.  Some people collect maps magnet and this is map and flip flop at once. 2 in 1. So I think it was worth to sacrifice other magnet to get this one. If anyone has a flip flop to swap, contact me :)

5. Hurghada, Egypt

Hurghada, Egypt

When I was in Egypt for the first time, in Sharm El Sheikh I was looking for flip flop for two weeks but I didn't find him. Last year I visited Egypt again. That time I was in Hurghada. I was really determined to find him. I was looking everywhere. I've checked every single souvenir shop but without success. I was dissapointed so I've bought other souvenirs out of desperation. After two weeks of searching we arrived to airport with nothing. I was tired, it was a middle of the night. Me, my friends and my 7-years-old cousin were waiting for our flight. Cousin was annoying, we were exhausted but he just wanted to visit every shop at the airport. So when he told me that he had found a flip flop I didn't belive him. I thought that it was an excuse to forced me to go with him. But I was wrong. He really found a flip flop. You can admire him (flip flop, not cousin) in the photo above. He represents the reef of Red Sea and he reminds me how I love to diving.

4. San Marino

San Marino

San Marino is a little country surrounded by Italy, situated on the Italian Penisula on the north-eastern side of the Apennine Mountains. I got this flip flop from my best friend A. She was in Italy but she decided to buy me a souvenir from San Marino where she spent only one day. She explained me that she likes challenges and finding flip flop in San Marino which have only 30 000 habitants is a mission made for her. And she did it! She had searched every single souvenir shop and she found it. It's really beautiful, isn't it? :)

3. Venice, Italy

Venice, Italy

I'd like to present you flip flop number 3. I really like it. I know it's a little bit damaged but he survived a robbery! I got it from my aunt M. She spent holidays with her family in Italy. They rend a little house near Venice. One night when they were sleeping, suddenly they heard that something crashed in next room. It was a burglar. When he spotted that familly was awake he ran away through the window. He took away the bag filled with clothes and... souvenirs.  My uncle started to chase him and although he knocked him down, the burglar ran away. The next day my aunt found some souvenirs in the garden. Probably they fell out of the bag when the burglar fell down. My flip flop was one of these souvenirs so he went through a lot but he survived. At the end I just want to remind you that I can send you magnets from Poland if you have any flip flop fridge magnet for exchange.

2. Bodrum, Turkey

Bodrum, Turkey

This flip flop I bought in the same year (2009) and on the same day as previous one because I found it when we had come back to Turkey from our one day trip to Greece. He was waiting for me in a little souvenir shop. When I saw it, I knew that it was destiny because if I can find flip flops in Greece and in Turkey I will also find them in other countries so I can start my international collection. I was right, flip flops fridge magnets are in cities from all over the world and I have to find them all :)

1. Kos, Greece

Kos, Greece

It's my first flip flop. I bought it in 2009 when I was in Greece for one day trip. We arrived in Kos by ferry from Turkey. Kos is an amazing beautiful island situated near more popular island Rhodes. I took a lot of photos and they are really nice souvenir to me but as a fan of fridge magnets I had to buy one. Ok, actually I bought more than one. But one of them - flip flop - was special. He began my collection. I don't know why I chose flip flop. Maybe because I can't wear flip flops as shoes because of my way of walking so perhaps it was like 'Ok, I can't wear flip flops but I can still buy them as a fridge magnet.' And that is how my collection began. I hope that one day I will come back to Kos because I have a photo when I was buying this magnet and now I see that there were other beautiful flip flops and I think they are waiting for me.
